Write a story that includes: a tombstone, a first kiss, and a butterfly collection…

Day 2...

As the rain falls, drop by drop, the tombstone turns to the colour of the sky, a dull, dark and dingy grey.  It doesn’t bother the young soul kneeling opposite it, head bowed, her long jet black hair drenched from the rain. It’s almost too easy to miss her tears, as they fall down her cheeks with the rain. In the midst of a thick forest, with the nearest road a mile away, she looks at the stone with lifeless eyes that resemble black pearls. An empty expression lies across her broken ashen face, signifying her empty, broken heart. Her life is gone, like the summer that is usually promised this time of year. Instead, a cold, damp chill flies through the air like a ghost, sucking the soul out of existence.
            This is perfect weather for her to sit and just be with him. The sound of the rain as it hits the thousands of leaves on the trees creates a blanket of melancholy over the grounds, an eerie silence where thoughts can dance across the branches; thoughts of the past, where she would sit with him amongst the butterfly collection in their forest. Amongst the secret canopy of the undergrowth, they would play, laugh and talk about the world and what their future will hold. In the perfect stillness and calm of the forest, where only the wind’s music playing through the trees breaks the silence, they shared their first kiss. A moment that was created and captured by the forest, just as the tombstone has captured his life. It just stands there, as a sign that soul has left hers forever. 

Rather a dark couple of paragraphs, a very short story. I am generally happy, but today's weather and the guidelines of the story inspired me to write this sad, lonely, melancoly piece.  Hopefully tomorrow's will have a more joyful tone to it!
